Panthers drop two 4-1 games at Fergus Falls

West Fargo and Fergus Falls posted 4-1 wins over the Park Rapids-Menahga-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley boys hockey team at the Fergus Falls tournament last week.

The two losses dropped the Panthers to 3-5 on the season.

Nelson keys Packers' win

Blake Nelson's pair of power-play goals powered the Packers to a 4-1 win last Tuesday.

Sage Raghib added a goal and an assist for West Fargo.

Benson Ringle and Levi Erickson assisted on a power-play goal by Sam Coborn in the third period for the Panthers, who held a 27-26 edge in shots on goal.

Scott Smith made 22 saves for the Panthers.

Otters fire 57 shots on net

Power-play goals by Devin Johnson and Casey Ward in the first period sparked Fergus Falls past the Panthers last Wednesday.

Joe Nathe also scored in the first period as the Otters jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Fergus Falls held a 20-6 advantage in shots on goal in the opening period.

Erickson pulled the Panthers to within 3-1 early in the second period as Park Rapids goalie Cody Brumbaugh made 18 saves to keep the game close.

Bill Rodning's goal in the third period concluded the scoring as the Otters held a 19-3 edge in shots in that period and a 57-24 advantage in shots in the game.

Brumbaugh finished with 53 saves for the Panthers.

Fergus Falls improved to 4-5 on the season.
