Panthers drop matches to Crookston, East Grand Forks

The Park Rapids boys tennis team closed out the regular season with a pair of 6-1 losses to Crookston and East Grand Forks at Crookston Tuesday.

Alex Renner prevailed in straight sets at No. 1 singles for the Panthers' only win against Crookston.

In the dual against East Grand Forks, Iain Wallace and Zack Tretbar won a third-set tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles for Park Rapids' only victory. Renner lost in a third-set tiebreaker at No. 1 singles.

Jeff Renner's team ended the regular season with a 2-12 record in dual meets. The Panthers, who received the No. 8 seed for the Section 8A tournament, will travel to No. 1 Thief River Falls for a quarterfinal match Monday. The section semifinals and finals will be played at Park Rapids Tuesday with the individual tournament beginning Tuesday and finishing on Thursday at Park Rapids.
