  The Park Rapids girls tennis team dropped only two singles matches in opening its dual-meet schedule with three victories on the road.

     A sweep in doubles led the Panthers to a 6-1 win at Fergus Falls Tuesday while winning seven singles matches led to a 4-3 win over Sauk Centre and a 6-1 victory over Yellow Medicine East at a triangular meet at Sauk Centre Wednesday.

Doubles spark win over Otters

     Three straight-set wins in doubles led Park Rapids past the Otters at Fergus Falls.

     Sarena Kinkel and Lindsey Girtz coasted at No. 1 doubles, Ali Walsh and Morgan Knott prevailed at No. 2 doubles, and Kellsey Clark and Drew Hilmanowski coasted at No. 3 doubles to lead the Panthers.

     Charity Ridlon at No. 2 singles, Mariena Dearstyne at No. 3 singles and Natalie Kinkel at No. 4 singles also coasted to complete the win.

Park Rapids 6, Fergus Falls 1

No. 1 singles: Sarah Taylor, FF, over Hope Johnson 6-1, 3-6, 6-4.

No. 2 singles: Charity Ridlon, PR, over Taylor Leapaldt 6-1, 6-0.

No. 3 singles: Mariena Dearstyne, PR, over Amanda Nelson 6-0, 6-0.

No. 4 singles: Natalie Kinkel, PR, over Abby MacFarlane 4-1, retired.

No. 1 doubles: Lindsey Girtz/Sarena Kinkel, PR, over Morgan Daniels/Kaci Walvatne 6-2, 6-0.

No. 2 doubles: Ali Walsh/Morgan Knott, PR, over Emma Clark/Mikaela Norgard 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).

No. 3 doubles: Kellsey Clark/Drew Hilmanowski, PR, over Taylor Pikala/Lauren Angus 6-1, 6-3.

Singles spark sweep at Sauk Centre

     The Panthers dropped only one singles match to spark the sweep at Sauk Centre.

     Ridlon prevailed in a tiebreaker at No. 2 singles, Dearstyne won a close match at No. 3 singles and Natalie Kinkel coasted at No. 4 singles to lead the Panthers past Sauk Centre. Girtz and Sarena Kinkel coasted at No. 1 doubles while Clark and Hilmanowski dropped a tiebreaker at No. 3 doubles.

     Against YME, the Panthers won six matches in straight sets for the sweep. Hope Johnson, Ridlon, Dearstyne and Natalie Kinkel combined to drop only 16 games in the four singles matches. Sarena Kinkel and Girtz prevailed at No. 1 doubles while Clark and Hilmanowski coasted at No. 3 doubles. Walsh and Knott fell in a tiebreaker at No. 2 doubles.

No. 1 singles: Bethany Ellis, SC, over Hope Johnson 6-3, 6-1.

No. 2 singles: Charity Ridlon, PR, over Morgan Kranz 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 10-7.

No. 3 singles: Mariena Dearstyne, PR, over Hope Schwinghamer 6-3, 7-6 (7-5).

No. 4 singles: Natalie Kinkel, PR, over Faith Henry 6-4, 6-2.

No. 1 doubles: Sarena Kinkel/Lindsey Girtz, PR, over Jessica Rodenbiker/Molly Weyer 6-2, 6-1.

No. 2 doubles: Nicole Meyer/Sophia Rick, SC, over Ali Walsh/Morgan Knott 6-1, 6-2.

No. 3 doubles: Abbi Primus/Abby Welberg, SC, over Kellsey Clark/Drew Hilmanowski 0-6, 6-2, 10-3.
