The Park Rapids girls tennis team reached the .500 mark in dual meets with a pair of 7-0 home wins over Mid-State Conference opponents.

Park Rapids won five matches in straight sets against Detroit Lakes Monday and won six matches in straights sets against Perham Tuesday at the Depot Courts.

Julie Renner, Lydia Schaum, Heidi Schaum and Charity Ridlon prevailed in singles against Detroit Lakes while Christina Smith, Renner and the Schaums coasted to straight-set wins in singles against Perham.

Bonnie Baumgartner and Allie Girtz won both matches in straight sets at No. 1 doubles while Lexi Burlingame and Katie Walsh coasted to a pair of straight-set wins at No. 2 doubles. Brittany Kinkel and Taylor Wheeler had to go three sets in both No. 3 doubles matches to complete the sweep.

Nicole Brandt's team improved to 4-2 against conference teams and 5-5 overall. Park Rapids will host the Mid-State Conference tournament today (Saturday) beginning at 9 a.m.
