Panthers coast past Prowlers

The Park Rapids boys swimming team swept the three relays to defeat Thief River Falls Tuesday night and end the dual season with a winning record.

The Panthers won seven events in coasting to a 106-63 win at Thief River Falls to conclude their dual schedule with a 4-2 record.

Connor Smythe, Dillon Schroeder, Kurt Fritze and Zach Eystad opened the meet by winning the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:53.46.

After runner-up efforts by Bobby Bruce (with a 2:05.99 in the 200 freestyle) and Waggoner (with a 2:17.66 in the 200 individual medley), Eystad clocked a winning time of 24.14 in the 50 freestyle.

Smythe clocked a runner-up 54.40 in the 100 freestyle before Waggoner (in 5:24.31) and Ben Kading (in 5:58.74) went 1-2 in the 500 freestyle.

Fritze, Fred Stinar, Waggoner and Eystad won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:41.73 and Smythe followed with a winning time of 1:00.55 in the 100 backstroke.

Kalvin Hagan's winning time of 1:12.31 in the 100 breaststroke and a winning time of 3:46.50 by Waggoner, Smythe, Kading and Eystad in the 400 freestyle relay capped off the win.
