Panthers card low round of season

The Park Rapids boys golf team is peaking at the right time.

Tadd Usher said the Panthers had the talent to shoot a round under 330 this season. The Panthers fulfilled that goal at last Tuesday's Bagley Invitational.

Led by Ian Johnson's career-best 77, the Panthers carded a 327 at Bagley. Jamie Stewart's 81, Bailey Mueller's 82 and Dustin Bethel's 87 rounded out the Panthers' team score.

Despite meeting a team goal by shooting a round under 330, Park Rapids trailed five other teams in this tune up for the Section 8AA North meet, which will be held at Bagley on Thursday.

Roseau won the team title with a 309 while East Grand Forks (315), Warroad (318), Bagley (321) and Crookston (325) also finished ahead of the Panthers. Warroad's Casey Anderson and Bagley's Aaron Leintz shared medalist honors with 72s.

Stewart earns Mid-Minn honors

Stewart earned all-conference honors as the Panthers finished third at the Mid-Minnesota Conference championship at Cragun's Legacy Courses May 21.

Stewart claimed the final all-conference spot with an 83. Staples-Motley's Nick Forsberg and Pequot Lakes' Alex Goerges shared medalist honors with 74s. Staples-Motley claimed the team title with a 382 while Pequot Lakes (416), Park Rapids (432) and Crosby-Ironton (450) followed.

Panthers card 340 at Wadena

Bethel carded a career-best 82 as the Panthers finished third at the seven-team Wadena-Deer Creek Invitational on May19.

A trio of 86s by Mueller, Johnson and Wyatt Derman rounded out the Panthers' 340 team score. Mitch Hagenson and Michael Strain carded 76s as Staples-Motley took first with a 308.

Nevis finished fifth with a 368 behind Daniel Stacey's 91, a pair of 92s by Gunnar Netteberg and AJ Pappas, and a 93 by Matt Halik.

Luke Wurdock's 92 led United North Central to seventh place with a 382. Don Wurdock's 95, Gavin Michelson's 96 and 99s by Arik Hillukka and Noah Hendrickson completed the Warriors' team score.
