Panther Post: Two BPA students head to nationals in Orlando, Fla.
Thirteen Park Rapids students competed at the state Business Professionals of America competition in March.
The 13 students included Spencer Adolphson, Kendra Anderson, Grace Bateman, Emily Eystad, Brandon Johnson, Josh Johnson, Jackson Kimball, Abbey Kisner, Scott Peterson, Paul Prenevost, Katy Spears, Megan Sullivan and John Wiederin.
Because competition started early on Thursday morning, students went down to Minneapolis on Wednesday and were able to attend the Minnesota Timberwolves game. The students had a great time watching the game and taking in all the “antics” of Crush, the mascot.
Thursday and Friday were the competition days and also some free time for the students. Most of them had a little time to shop and explore downtown Minneapolis.
The awards ceremony was held on Saturday morning with three Park Rapids students making it to the stage in the top 10 in their category: Paul Prenevost was 2nd in Advanced Spreadsheet Applications, Brandon Johnson was 6th in Fundamental Accounting and Josh Johnson was 7th in Economic Research Project.
Paul Prenevost’s 2nd place qualified him for the national competition and Brandon Johnson will also be competing at nationals because one of the top five cannot attend. They are off to Orlando, Fla. for that national competition on May 8-12. Besides the competition and conference, students will be taking in Disney World and Universal Studios. They are really looking forward to some warm temps and sunshine.
