Being kind is the "New Cool" at Park Rapids Century School. The Josh Stevens Foundation Be Kind Program at Century School is in full swing on the campus.

Twenty-four students, Kindergarten through 8th Grade, have been "Caught Being Kind" since the program was implemented 2 ½ weeks ago. These genuine random acts of kindness are being acknowledged by the Century Staff starting a kindness revolution that is spreading throughout the school.

Students who are "Caught Being Kind" are given a logo card by the "Kindness Patrol" who randomly witnesses the student performing an act of kindness. The student exchanges the logo card at the office for a Josh Stevens Kindness Card and a green Josh Stevens silicone bracelet given exclusively to the students caught being kind. The staff member communicates the kind act and the student is entered into a drawing for a special yellow Be Kind t-shirt. Every Friday, four of the exclusive yellow shirts will be randomly awarded to two elementary and two middle school students. In both the Century Elementary and Middle School "Kindness Walls" have been created. The students' acts of kindness will be displayed for other students, staff, and community members to celebrate. A letter of recognition will be sent through the mail to the parents of the students' "Caught being Kind."

Be Kind t-shirts have been very difficult to keep in stock since the program was implemented. Students, staff, families, and community members have been purchasing different colors and styles of these unique, uplifting shirts. The t-shirts can be purchased for $10. If interested contact Steph Carlson at kcarlson@unitelc.com or Allison Spahn at aspahn @parkrapids.k12.mn.us. The shirts will make anyone on your list a great Christmas gift!
