Packing treats for the troops
Blue Star Mothers, fathers and family members spent Saturday afternoon getting a dozen boxes ready to ship overseas to troops stationed primarily in Afghanistan. "This is a good thing," said Connie Carmichael, noting the group has packed as many as three times that many care packages in the past at holiday time. "That means they're coming home." At left Rodger Harsha, Rich Coulter and Carmichael form an assembly line packing candy, socks, personal hygiene items, comfort foods and other touches of home. Others involved were Randy Wilson, Judy Harsha, Mae Benjamin, Gary and Deb Korsgaden and Russ Carmichael. An estimated 67,000 troops will be stationed in Afghanistan this holiday.
