Osage fire causes smoke damage to Bog Lake cabin
Park Rapids and Carsonville firefighters responded to a cabin fire in Osage Township Sunday evening that caused mostly smoke damage when a chair ignited.
Although the cause of the fire is unknown presently, Park Rapids Fire Chief Donn Hoffman said the blaze was not of a suspicious origin and was confined to a downstairs sitting room.
"There was damage only to the chair and smoke damage throughout the structure," he said.
The Park Rapids department has contracts with a few townships in Becker County but some of those will end next spring when the Carsonville department assumes responsibility for those areas. Park Rapids will retain its contract with Two Inlets, Hoffman said.
The cabin on Bog Lake Trail is believed to be owned by Bill Christlieb. It was called in at 6 p.m.
