One person was transported to the Park Rapids hospital following a rear-end collision six miles south of town that snarled traffic along U.S. Highway 71.

Both vehicles were heading north when the collision occurred. It was unclear if the lead vehicle was attempting to turn into a nearby driveway when it was struck.

The force of the collision, which caused extensive damage to both vehicles, spun the front car 180 degrees and propelled it to the south facing shoulder of the road.

No more information was immediately available.

Hubbard County deputies were on scene directing traffic around the crash site. The accident occurred around 11:30 a.m.
