Ogema woman charged with DWI; three kids in the car
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. - An Ogema woman has been charged in Becker County District Court with three counts of child endangerment and two counts of driving while intoxicated.
Jeanna Marie Fineday, 29, is accused of driving drunk with her three minor children in the car.
According to court records, the Becker County Sheriff’s Department responded early Oct. 6 to a report of an allegedly intoxicated driver going into a ditch and that children were involved.
A relative came to the scene before law enforcement’s arrival and discovered three children, ages 5, 2 and 10 months, inside the vehicle. She took them to her home and contacted law enforcement.
One child reportedly had come out of a car seat during the accident, striking his or her head before falling out of the vehicle. EMS personnel examined all three children, who were not badly hurt, according to the report.
Fineday was located a short time later and claimed a relative wouldn’t return her children, authorities said. A preliminary breath test registered a blood-alcohol level of 0.157, almost twice the legal limit to drive.
Fineday has a prior DWI conviction from 2008. She was in custody at the Becker County Jail awaiting her next court appearance Oct. 28. Her bail was set at $3,000 with conditions, or $12,000 without.
