NYM Police Chief resigns, takes top Perham job
Park Rapids Minnesota PO Box 111 56470

New York Mills Police Chief Jason Hoaby informed the city council of his resignation effective August 5, during the group's July 13 meeting.

"I have been offered the position of chief of police for the city of Perham. After much deliberation, I have decided to accept the position. I appreciate your support during my employment in New York Mills," Hoaby wrote in a letter to the council.

Hoaby is the second chief in a handful of years to leave NY Mills for a Perham job.

Hoaby was hired as a patrol officer in 2004. In 2008, he took over duties as chief after Brian Nelson took command of the Perham Force. Nelson recently retired, again creating an open chief position in Perham.

The council and Mayor Larry Hodgson thanked Hoaby for his years of service and dedication to the community of New York Mills.

Second officer resigns full-time status

NY Mills Police Officer Sedrick Borsgard also notified the council of his resignation from full-time to part-time status effective July 21.

Borsgard has been working for the police department for 4 1/2 years.

"I have enjoyed working with the people of New York Mills... I thank you for the pleasant memories," Borsgard wrote in a letter to the council.

Borsgard has accepted a job offer from Swift County.
