The Park Rapids Area Library is hosting another free concert sponsored by the Legacy Program with the Everett Smithson Band at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6 at Care-Age Country Home.

The New Orleans/ French Quarter-style music includes Zydeco, blues, rockin' roots, hillbilly hoedowns, gospel and more.

This program appeals to many ages. Space is limited, so advance tickets are required. Tickets are available at the Park Rapids Area Library. If you need directions to Care-Age Home, call 732-3721.

When you come to an Everett Smithson Band (ESB) performance you can count on the band to create a party atmosphere.

With infectious music and a playful stage presence, they connect with their audience. Their vast repertoire spans the generations and includes songs from Fats Domino, Johnny Cash, Howlin Wolf, Rosie Ledet, Wanda Jackson and Allison Krause.

Band members include Phil Schmid on guitar, Jeremy Johnson on drums and the ubiquitous Bill Black on standup bass.

They have played nationally and internationally with big name acts such as Bo Diddley, Lynwood Slim, Big George Jackson, Gary Primich and many others.

They have played together for a long time and when they get together on stage they really tear it up with their solid rhythms and red hot instrumentals.

If you're interested in attending one of their concerts, but this time doesn't work for you, check the Legacy events schedule on the Kitchigami website ( to see if you might be able to make it to another of our branches to hear this group.

This free Legacy Program is funded in part or in whole with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008 which dedicated funding to preserve Minnesota's art and cultural heritage.
