Nevis School approves budget, eyes even-year election
The Nevis School Board approved a $6 million budget for the upcoming school year, with a warning lean times are ahead.
Anticipated annual revenue for the 2009-10 school year is $6,039,714 with $6,012,146 in anticipated expenditures.
The problem, superintendent Steve Rassier explained, is distribution of money by the state, which has been modified from 90-10 percent to 73-27 percent, causing "a cash flow problem of $467,000" to the district.
