Nevis to host '50s,'60s musical event Saturday
Nevis will be rockin' Saturday, June 9 when the C&C hosts the second annual Bop 'til You Drop, '50s and '60s musical event from 3 to 7 p.m. in Muskie Park.
"Girls," pull your hair up in a ponytail, put on a poodle skirt and bobby socks. Grab a greaser with slicked back hair, a white T with sleeves rolled up (pack of cigs optional) and pants that sit a few inches above the ankle - also with bobby socks - and head to town in your '57 Chevy to rock 'round the clock.
Okay, the evening.
'50s and '60s music will be playing on the nickelodeon with Smokin' Loon slated to take the stage at 6 p.m.
"Elvis and James Dean are not dead," according to Nevis mayor emeritus Dave McCurnin and are expected to make an appearance. Vintage cars will line the boulevard, from Park Rapids' and Walker's clubs.
A hula hoop contest will begin at 4 p.m. with a dance contest at 5 p.m.
Northwind Grocery will be selling 99-cent burgers. Muskie Waters will have ice cream soda specials.
The Gene Cirks fishing tourney awards ceremony begins at 5:30 p.m., with rockin' to continue at its conclusion.
Nerd, jocks, greasers and old rockers (not the chair variety) are welcome.
