The Nevis girls basketball team rebounded from a close loss to Clearbrook-Gonvick to post a close win over Bertha-Hewitt and roll to an easy victory over Blackduck last week.

Clearbrook-Gonvick prevailed 44-42 in a Northwoods Conference game last Tuesday night at Nevis before the Tigers rebounded to edge Bertha-Hewitt 43-42 in a non-conference game last Thursday night at Bertha. Nevis coasted to a 64-42 conference win over Blackduck last Friday night in the regular-season finale at Blackduck.

Nevis ended the regular season with a 13-10 overall record.

Bears lock up second place

Clearbrook-Gonvick locked up second place in the conference standings with the win over Nevis last Tuesday night.

The Bears improved to 10-2 in conference play and 20-2 overall. Pine River-Backus leads the conference with a 12-0 record.

Megan Norby's 17 points and Riley Hanson's 12 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocked shots led the Tigers.

Tigers top Bertha-Hewitt

Norby scored 18 points while Hanson (15) and Hannah Bliss (10) combined for 25 rebounds in leading the Tigers past Bertha-Hewitt.

Bertha-Hewitt fell to 10-12.

Tigers coast past Blackduck

Norby led a balanced scoring attack with 18 points as the Tigers closed out the regular season with a win over Blackduck.

Karly Drury and Mattie Hjelseth scored 10 points apiece while Hanson and Bliss scored 8 points each for the Tigers, who led 36-20 at the half. Hanson also had 10 rebounds, six steals and four assists while Drury and Hjelseth had five steals and four assists apiece as Nevis improved to 9-5 in conference play. Blackduck fell to 3-11 in the conference and 5-17 overall.
