More snow in the forecast for Park Rapids

Snow-starved Minnesotans could see a weather band that brings another half a foot of white stuff to the Park Rapids area this weekend.

"Right now in the Park Rapids area our current forecast calls for somewhere in the neighborhood around 4-6 inches, but that's subject to some more revisions in the next few days," said National Weather Service meteorologist Jeff Makowski.

"We'll have a better handle on the track of the system," he added. "Some areas in western Minnesota and eastern North Dakota may see over 6 inches of snow with this system and right now Park Rapids is on the southern edge of the heaviest snow band depending on exactly the track of the system."

Makowski said next week, the region could see a second system coming out of the Rockies.

"The system projected to come next week on the heels of this system is showing a northwards trend so given that's it's still several days out it's hard to get a good handle on where it will track in that Tuesday, Wednesday time frame but there is certainly the possibility of a snow event next week if this northwards track persists through next week."
