Moorhead woman punched in road rage incident
A 25-year-old Moorhead woman was punched in the face Thursday while sitting in her car with her window rolled down at a stoplight in Moorhead.
Moorhead police are calling it a road rage incident.
Officers arrested 66-year-old Neil Robert Shirreff of Pelican Rapids, Minn., on suspicion of fifth-degree assault.
The woman, who does not want to be named, was westbound in the 1100 block of First Avenue North in the left inside lane when she tried to merge into the right lane. Shirreff was driving in the right lane and had to brake to avoid a collision with the woman's car, according to police.
Both drivers stopped at the traffic light at 11th Street North on First Avenue.
Shirreff left his vehicle and approached the woman's car. She had her window rolled partially down when Shirreff punched her in the face, according to police.
Shirreff then got back into his car and left. Police found and arrested him.
