Moorhead ran away with the boys and girls titles at Thursday's Perham Invitational cross-country meet at Arvig Park.

In the girls meet, Moorhead had seven runners in the top-15 spots and finished with 36 points. The Spuds had six runners in the top-13 spots in winning the boys title with 20 points.


Park Rapids finished third in the girls race with 97 points. Lydia Lutz led the way by covering the 4,000-meter course in 15 minutes, 29 seconds to finish third overall. Shelby Pierce was 15th in 16:17, Summer Ellefson finished 19th in 16:33, Megan Olson was 32nd in 17:16 and Lora Remus finished 38th in 17:41 to account for the Panthers' team score. Kaylee Hilmanowski finished 58th in 18:16 and Abby Mueller was 65th in 18:38 to round out Park Rapids' varsity.

Haylie Zenner led the field with a winning time of 15:13 in leading Fergus Falls to runner-up honors with 83 points in this 15-team meet.

In the boys meet, the Panthers finished eighth out of 18 teams with 206 points. Leading the Panthers were Isaac Overmyer (23rd in 17:49), Jake Waggoner (43rd in 18:47), Bailey Muller (44th in 18:48), Tanner Otterness (47th in 19:13), Ryan McBrady (56th in 19:53), Brad Eischens (60th in 19:58) and Jacob Hays (68th in 20:22).

Moorhead's Glen Ellingson led the pack with a winning time of 16:10 over the 5,000-meter course.

United North Central finished eighth in the girls meet with 198 points. Leading the Warriors were Joy Haataja (34th in 17:27), Jill Isaacson (39th in 17:42), Anna Olson (46th in 17:55), Madlin Lausten (50th in 18:02) and Andrea Korvela (51st in 18:03).

The Warriors had only three runners in the boys meet. Competing for UNC were Ryan Johnson (49th in 19:19), Luke Graham (57th in 19:54) and Jeff Johnson (72nd in 20:36).

Competing for Park Rapids in the junior varsity races were Austin Carlson (39th in 20:49), Nate Carlson (41st in 20:57), Adam Mackley (53rd in 21:45), Nathaniel Rairdon (61st in 22:10), Matthew Konshok (66th in 22:28), Cody Brumbaugh (74th in 23:41), Ben Kading (80th in 24:29) and Nick Schulz (82nd in 24:52) for the boys and Maya Johnson (22nd in 19:06) and Morgan Olson (23rd in 19:13) for the girls. Jacob Bridgman (41st in 13:24) and Cole Coborn (48th in 13:36) ran for Park Rapids in the boys 3,200-meter junior high race.
