Moorhead man gets jail for writing bad check for snowmobile
A Moorhead man was sentenced Thursday in Becker County District Court on a felony charge of issuing dishonored checks.
Dennis Keith Dahl, 49, of 1808 11th St. S., Moorhead (formerly of Lake Park) was ordered to serve 30 days in jail, with credit for seven days already served. He must also serve up to five years' supervised probation, which if successfully completed, would result in the charge being reduced to a misdemeanor conviction on his record.
Dahl was also ordered to pay $1,085 in court fines and fees, plus $5,664 in restitution for the bad checks. A second felony count of the same charge was dismissed.
Dahl was accused of purchasing a Yamaha snowmobile from Seaberg Power Sports in Detroit Lakes on Nov. 27, 2009, by writing a $8,812 check on a closed account.
He also allegedly wrote two checks to Cenex in Lake Park on the same closed account, totaling over $751, on July 19 and 22, 2010.
