Minnesota man sentenced in girlfriend's shooting
A Lake Bronson, Minn., man accused of shooting his girlfriend in June 2009 was sentenced Tuesday to two years and three months in prison.
David Eidem, 50, pleaded guilty to charges of assault and reckless discharge of a firearm in November.
Kittson County prosecutor Jeff Hane said Eidem was ordered Tuesday to pay the victim's medical costs. He must also serve at least five years on probation, Hane said.
According to a criminal complaint, Eidem hit Laura Docken on the arms and legs with a hammer and shot her once with a shotgun at his home, causing her to feel "a burning sensation between her legs."
As a result, 49-year-old Docken underwent emergency surgery at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks.
