Minnesota Folklore Theater moving to Walker
Minnesota Folklore Theater, currently based in Akeley, has announced plans to move to Walker, likely before winter.
The decision was made by the MFT board "in order to expand to an area that is currently not home to a theater," according to MFT founder Fred Rogers.
He said the move has been in the discussion phase for several months. The theater has developed a significant Walker audience base, he said.
MFT hopes to find a facility that will accommodate about 100 seats for both the folklore theater and children's theater activities.
The nonprofit theater has been in existence four years, originally staging plays in the Akeley Regional Community Center.
