Citizens within the school district can request a recount. If a petition comes with 25 signatures then the district must have a recount.

The school board is also holding an emergency meeting at 8:30 a.m. today (Wednesday), Aug. 18 in the high school media center dealing with a recount resolution. The recount on Monday will be held in the Menahga School multi-purpose room.

The recount official will be Rosalie A. Miller, election coordinator from the Wadena County Auditor's Office.

The referendum question asked for voters to allow Menahga School District 821 to issue general obligation school building bonds in an amount not to exceed $4,350,000 to provide funds for the acquisition and betterment of school sites and facilities, including the construction and equipping of five elementary classrooms, a physical education class-room/

gymnasium, a weight room, women and men's locker rooms and bathrooms, a concession area, an entry, and kitchen storage.

The project was scaled back from the two previous votes in the last year.
