Menahga purchases new fire truck
On Tuesday, Nov. 26 the Menahga City Council met to discuss the proposed purchase of a new firetruck.
The purchase, which was unanimously approved, comes as part of a federal surplus from the Department of Natural Resources in Willow River.
The 1992 Ford is a walk-in style rescue truck, believed to be in perfect working condition.
The city council also approved an additional $2000 in funding to re-paint the truck red and also re-letter its sides.
“This is an ideal purchase for Menahga because it will replace an aging vehicle at a reasonable price. We foresee using it for the next 25 years,” said Mayor Pat Foss.
The truck will be paid for after the first of the year due to taxation purposes. Menahga now currently has 7 firetrucks available for use.
