Menahga man charged with strangulation, threats
A Menahga man was charged Dec. 29 in Wadena County District Court with terroristic threats and domestic assault by strangulation.
James Ronald Warmbold, 56, posted a $500 bond and agreed to follow all conditions set by the court and was released.
The incident happened on Dec. 27. A Menahga police officer responded at 8:39 p.m., and according to court records, learned that a woman at the home had allegedly been abused.
The victim reported Warmbold had been drinking beer and watching football games with a relative, and when the relative left, she and Warmbold argued and he choked her two times around the neck during the argument, and said he was going to kill her. She was able to push him off her twice, and after the second time, he took his beer and left, according to court records.
The officer noted redness around the woman's neck and a scrape on her chin. When questioned, Warmbold said the two had argued, but he denied choking her, court records indicated.
A first court appearance was set for Jan. 12.
