Menahga girls return to win column

     The Menahga girls basketball team sandwiched a win over Swanville between a pair of Park Region Conference losses.

     Prior to last Friday night’s 55-37 loss to New York Mills at Menahga, the Braves snapped a six-game losing streak with a 52-31 win over Swanville last Thursday night. Menahga dropped a 44-29 decision at Bertha-Hewitt on Jan. 21.

     The Braves are now 0-6 in conference play and 4-9 overall.

New York Mills tops Braves

     Jenny Skoog was the only player to hit double figures with 16 points in the loss the New York Mills.

     NYM improved to 5-2 in the conference and 10-3 overall.

Braves defeat Swanville

     Skoog’s double-double led the Braves past Swanville.

     Skoog led Menahga with 25 points and 14 rebounds while Jen Stifter added 15 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three assists. Danielle Novak had six rebounds and Hannah Allebach had three assists and three steals.

     Nikki Primus had 15 points and 17 rebounds for Swanville, which fell to 0-13 on the season.

Defense lifts B-H past Braves

     Lakyn Anderson hit three 3-pointers and finished with 10 points and six rebounds to lead the Braves in the loss to Bertha-Hewitt.

     Skoog hauled down nine rebounds for Menahga, which shot only 26 percent (12 for 46) from the field.

     B-H improved to 3-3 in the conference and 6-7 overall.
