Marian Mae Hruby-Goodrich, 92, of Akeley, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013 at Pleasant Akers Assisted Living in Akeley.

She was born Jan. 21, 1921 in Chamberlain, to Axel and Pearl (Sutliff) Olson, the third of nine children. Marian grew up in White Oak Township in Hubbard County and graduated from high school in Akeley in 1939 and then Walker Normal School in 1940. She taught rural school for two years and married Lloyd Hruby in 1942.

From 1964 to 1969 Marian worked as a nurse's aide at St. Joseph's Hospital in Park Rapids and returned to college to complete her four-year degree in education. Her master's degree was completed at Bemidji State University.

Marian taught at Nevis Schools for 17 years, retiring at age 68.

In later years she mar-ried Elmer Goodrich. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and her farm on the lake.

Marian is survived by sons, Joseph and Wayne Hruby; daughter, Marlene Hruby Ceynar; grandchildren, Craig, Steve, Vicki Hruby and Abigail Ceynar; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Julie and Allison Jo Hruby.

Memorial service: 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20 at the Church of Christ in Nevis.

Visitation: one hour prior to the service at the church.
