Margaret Susan Oja was born to Fred and Saima Oja on Jan. 23, 1922 in Soudan, Minn., where she began her public schooling before moving with her family to the Wolf Lake area in 1930. Margaret grew up on her parents' farm, and attended country school nearby.

On April 27, 1939, Margaret married Edwin George Feldt at the Evergreen Parsonage. This union was blessed with four children; Gerald, David, Lois, and Kevin. The young family returned to the Iron Range, where Ed gained employment with a taconite mining company. In 1945, Margaret returned home to the Wolf Lake area to be closer to her family while her husband served his country in World War II.

Following Lyle's honorable discharge from military service in 1949, they purchased a farm near Wolf Lake, where they raised a fine herd of Holstein dairy cattle and raised the crops needed to feed their herd. Margaret devoted her life to making a warm and loving home for her family. She was a wonderful cook and baker who will long be remembered for her delicious homemade breads and rolls. Her children were often greeted with a special homemade treat as they came home from school.

Margaret was a long time member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Wolf Lake, where she was active in the Women's Ministries. For 30 years, she served as secretary of the Wolf Lake V.F.W. Auxiliary. For 16 years, she served as treasurer of the Wolf Lake Cemetery Association. Each year they looked forward to planting a large vegetable garden, which she would nurture into fruitful abundance to share with her family and friends. She also enjoyed raising beautiful flowers into colorful splendor for all to see and enjoy. Above all Margaret dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she loved with all her heart.

She will be lovingly remembered by her four children, Gerald (Arlene) Feldt of Fargo, David (Kristine) Feldt of Wolf Lake, Lois (Stanley) Myllykangas, also of Wolf Lake, and Kevin (Mona) Feldt of Perham; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; one brother, Byron Oja of Osage; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceding Margaret in death were her parents; her husband, Edwin (1984); one granddaughter, Joan (January 1970; three brothers; and five sisters.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 2, at the Christ Lutheran Church in Wolf Lake, with the Rev. John Ramsbacher officiating. Casket bearers will be her grandchildren, Paul Myllykangas, Brian Feldt, Steven Feldt, Kevin Feldt Jr., Caitlin Feldt and Katherine Briard. Honorary casket bearers will be her granddaughters, Amy Feldt, Andrea Feldt-Day, Sara Feldt, Sheri Rehborg, Wendy Briard, Amber Struchen and Daren Struchen.
