Margaret C. Isola, 88, of Menahga, died Sunday, April 12, 2009 at St. Joseph's Area Health Services in Park Rapids.
She was born March 16, 1921 in Otter Tail County, Butler Township, to Tony and Ellen (Holecek) Johnson. She attended school at Butler and Spruce Grove through the eighth grade. She married Walfrid Isola on Feb. 24, 1943 at Evergreen Parish, Evergreen. They had five children. She helped work on the family's small farm. She was a lifetime member of the Wolf Lake VFW Auxiliary. She was also a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Menahga. She lived at Greenwood Assisted Living Center in Menahga.
She is survived by her husband; four children: Daniel (Boni), of St. Charles, Anthony (Lupe), of Menahga, Margene (Roger) Olson, of Perham, and Lori (Bruce) Petersen, of Littlefork; a daughter-in-law, Lois, of Menahga; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Rosella Mickelson, of Frazee, and Fern Jacobson, of Detroit Lakes; three sisters-in-law: Anita Johnson, of Frazee, Vi Salmela, of Menahga, and Nina Hepokoski, of Menahga; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Larry; and two grandsons: Matthew and Marc.
Funeral service: 11 a.m. Friday, April 17 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Menahga, with Rev. John Ramsbacher officiating.
Visitation: 5-8 p.m. Thursday, April 16 with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Cardini-Pearson Funeral Home, Menahga.
Casket bearers: Her grandsons and great-grandsons: Mike, Brent and Dylan Isola, Joel Olson, Eric and Brian Petersen, and Nathan and Ryan Krause.
Honorary casket bearers: Her granddaughters and her great-grandchildren.
