Grand Forks Police are investigating a man's report that his friend kidnapped him over the weekend.

Richard Reierson, 22, told police the ordeal lasted from 11 p.m. Friday to shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday, according to an officer's report.

The report says physical force was used and that Reierson, of Williams, Minn., received a minor injury. It appears he alerted police right after he was released.

The report gives a residence on the 300 block of DeMers Avenue in downtown Grand Forks as the site of the incident.

The offenses listed on the report are kidnapping and simple assault. Police put a recorded statement from Reierson and digital photos into evidence.

On Monday, Sgt. Bill Macki said the safety of the general public is not a concern in this case, but he declined to release any details, including how Reierson was restrained or why he was kidnapped.

As of Monday afternoon, police had not made an arrest in with the case.
