Man escapes after silo falls on truck near Perham
A man was transported to Perham Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries this morning after he crashed into the base of a farm silo, causing it to collapse on his truck.
Scott Delbert Bauck, 44, of New York Mills, was traveling south on 485th Street between Perham and New York Mills around 8 a.m. when his truck veered off the road, hit a power pole and crashed into a silo, according to the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office.
Bauck was extricated from the vehicle with the assistance of the New York Mills Fire Department after power to the area was shut off by Lake Region Power Company. Lifeflight was called to the scene, but was not used. Bauck was transported by Perham Emergency Services to the Perham hospital.
Damage was done to the front and rear of the 2006 Dodge Ram.
Otter Tail County Sheriff's Deputy Mike Schreader, who responded to the scene, said the reason he drove off the road is not known.
Dean Schultz, owner of the silo, said the structure has been standing since the 1960s, when it was built.
The New York Mills Fire Department, Perham Fire Department, Perham Emergency Response Services and Otter Tail County Sherrif's Office responded to the scene.
