Man dead after apparent stabbing; Crookston man in custody

A Crookston man is being held in connection with the stabbing death of a man at a Crookston apartment building Sunday night.

A police release said officers were called to 1500 N. Broadway Apartments at 9:45 p.m. where they found Jacob Anthony Abel, 27, holding a knife in the hallway with blood on him.

Officers told Abel to drop the knife, which he did, and they took him into custody without further incident.

Inside an apartment, officers found a while male dead of apparent stab wounds.

The release said the scene was secured and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Affairs Crime lab was brought in to process the scene.

Monday morning, the deceased man was transported to the UND School of Medicine and Forensic Pathology for an autopsy.

The name of the man is not being released pending notification of his relatives.

Abel is being held at the Northwest Regional Corrections Center in Crookston.

The Minnesota BCA is assisting Crookston Police Department on the case, which is under investigation.
