Man breaks in to Otter Tail diner, falls asleep
A drunk man broke into At The Hop Diner in Ottertail on Sunday morning, and then fell asleep.
Diner owner Marlys Stahlecker discovered the man inside the building after arriving at work at about 7 a.m.
According to the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office, Clint Howitz, age 42 of West Fargo, N.D., forcibly entered a locked door at the diner sometime during the early morning hours. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, he was found intoxicated and asleep.
Howitz was placed under arrest and brought to Otter Tail County Jail, where he awaits an initial court appearance.
Relevant charges include burglary and criminal damage to property. Stahlecker said damage was done to the door as a result of the break-in. She declined to comment further.
Deputies from the sheriff's office and an officer from the Perham Police Department assisted with the incident.
