Man arraigned in ATV death case
A Laporte man was arraigned Monday on two felony charges in connection with the death of his ATV passenger May 1.
Chad Robert Tabaka, 31, formerly of Walker, was released on his own recognizance by Judge Robert Tiffany, who placed several conditions on him.
He faces two counts of criminal vehicular operation in the death of Jessica Lynn Christopherson, 31. He also faces a gross misdemeanor charge of Third Degree DWI.
He is represented by Michael Undem, who told Tiffany he was retained before the county attorney filed charges against him last week.
Tiffany said, "you must not use, possess or consume alcohol," nor operate any kind of motor vehicle unless property licensed and insured.
Tabaka is forbidden to enter an establishment that sells alcohol and is subject to random drug testing.
An omnibus hearing is set for July 19.
If Tabaka chooses to have the conditions lifted, he must post $25,000 bond.
Tabaka has a lengthy history of traffic and alcohol violations.
