Mahnomen farmer killed in accident
An elderly Mahnomen County man has died after being pinned underneath a tractor, the sheriff's office reported today.
Authorities were called at 9:47 p.m. Wednesday about an accident at the farm of Raynold Albert Guenther, 82. Mahnomen County deputies, along with White Earth Police, the Mahnomen Fire Department and an ambulance from the Mahnomen Health Center, responded and found Guenther trapped between the rear fender of a tractor and a hay bailer in a field southeast of the home.
Guenther was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the sheriff's office, a preliminary investigation indicated Guenther was between the tractor and hay bailer while the tractor was moving.
It's unknown whether he fell from the tractor or whether the tractor moved while he was working between the machinery.
An autopsy will be performed at the UND Forensic Pathology Department in Grand Forks to determine the exact cause of death.
