Maddock, N.D., mayor arrested on meth, theft, trespassing charges
Kevin Winson, mayor of Maddock, N.D., is in jail in Devils Lake, awaiting a court appearance next week on drug, theft and trespassing charges.
According to his attorney, James Wang, Minnewaukan, N.D., Winson was arrested Tuesday and faces two felony charges: using methamphetamine and criminal theft; and a misdemeanor charge of criminal trespassing.
The theft and trespass charges relate to trespass allegations Winson stole copper wiring and plumbing out of vacant farmsteads, Wang said.
Winson remains in jail under bail and is expected to make an initial court appearance Monday in state district court in Minnewaukan, Wang said.
Maddock is a city of about 480 in Benson County. Winson works for a bowling alley in Carrington, N.D.
