MacPherson's two goals key Panthers' win

     Noah MacPherson’s pair of goals and Cody Brumbaugh’s 34 saves kept the Park Rapids-Menahga-Nevis-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley boys hockey team undefeated in Mid-State Conference play with a 3-1 win over Prairie Centre Tuesday night at Walker.

     After a scoreless first period, Kiefer Miller and Chase Brand set up MacPherson for a power-play goal 2:04 into the second period. Prairie Centre would tie the game on Kristian Laaksonen’s power-play goal at the 9:49 mark.

     MacPherson’s goal 6:01 into the third period proved to be the game-winner. Brand and Matt DeLaHunt had assists on that goal. Luke Jaeger sealed the win with a goal at the 15:19 mark as the Panthers improved to 5-0 in the conference and 10-3-2 overall.

     Prairie Centre, which held a 35-27 advantage in shots, fell to 1-2 in conference games and 10-6 overall.
