Lowen indicted by federal grand jury for robbery; local charges dismissed
Edward Joseph Lowen, a suspect in the Feb. 26 robbery of an Akeley branch bank, was indicted last week by a federal grand jury.
Hubbard County Attorney Don Dearstyne moved to dismiss local charges against Lowen Tuesday morning as the federal indictment was unsealed.
Dearstyne said federal marshals picked Lowen up from the Hubbard County Correctional Center and transported him to Bemidji where he was scheduled to make a first appearance on the federal bank robbery charge.
