Longville man pleads guilty in drinking death of friend
Cass County Attorney Christopher Strandlie reports that a Longville man has entered a plea of guilty to 2nd Degree Murder. On February 21, 2013, Frank Jesse LaRose, age 24, pled guilty to the February 5, 2012 slaying of James Raymond Elmberg, age 31, of Walker.
LaRose stated that he and Elmberg as well as other friends and had been drinking together, at LaRose's home, during the day and into the evening and early morning hours of February 4th and 5th. During the course of the night LaRose and another individual began to argue and Elmberg intervened. LaRose stated that he perceived that Elmberg was lunging at him and struck him in the chest with a knife. LaRose stated that he did not intend to kill Elmberg.
Sentencing in the matter is scheduled for April 4, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. in the Cass County courthouse.
