The snails, long established in the lake, do not seem to do any harm but zebra mussels -- larvae of which were discovered this winter in Lake Winnie -- are more concerning. Rooney points out that where the snails take up residence -- dozens cover each of his dock posts -- are the prime locations for zebra mussel infestations.
