Twenty-three “intrepid members” of the Little Sand Lake Area Association (LSLAA) braved cold and damp conditions June 1 to plant 600 trees on the barren hillside above Zorbaz on County 7, according to Janet McMillen. The trees, a mixture of red pine, burr oak, red maple, grey dogwood, and crabapple, all native species, were procured from the DNR by the landowner, Scott Rech  The purpose of the plantings is to re-vegetate and beautify the hill, which was excavated for fill dirt during construction of the bridge between Little Sand Lake and Lake Ida in 2009.
