Letters: Virtues of America are unraveling
"Obama taking U.S. in 'Descent into Marxism'" is the headline of an article written by Fred Lucas, Staff Writer for CNSNews.com, June 2, 2009. He states that the opinion piece in Pravda, one of the Soviet-era newspapers still published in Russia, carried the headline "American Capitalism Gone with a Whimper" written by Stanislav Mishin. The Pravda article goes on to state "The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His spending and money printing has been record setting, not just in America's short history, but in the world." This is not news to us... we are living this.
A detractor to my letter to the editor in the Aug. 26 edition of the Enterprise, cites and takes issue with a number of diffuse subjects that are not even in my letter, in an attempt to demean the main thrust of the letter... that being recognition of the swift unraveling of many of the virtues of America... our economy, our jobs, our values, our retirement and our medical care. These are not in question, but a given. The detractor goes on to write that "We have enough careful thinkers on both the right and the left to allow us to judge for ourselves current events in the United States." When the left is in control of the House, the Senate and the White House? Really!
