Letters: Bikers Against Battering a success

Thank You Bikers! On Saturday, Aug. 1, Headwaters Intervention Center held the inaugural Bikers Against Battering Bike Show and Fun Run in Park Rapids. Even though Mother Nature was not very cooperative with the cold breezes and lack of sunshine, we had many great folks turn out for the event.

A huge thank you to the co-hairs, Chris Sandretzky and Larry Bowland, for the hours, days, and weeks of work they put in to organizing this for us. Thank you to Itasca Thunder, The Buck Stop, Bad 2 the Bone BBQ, Companeros, and Hilltop Inn for acting as pit stops for the Fun Run. Thank you to the public for coming out and looking at all the bikes that entered in the bike show and for voting for their favorite. Thank you to the Patriot Guard for the show of support.

But most of all, thank you to the bikers who participated and generously gave to our program. Some of these folks even gave their prizes back to us! We raised some money, raised awareness for domestic violence, and had a great time. We look forward to doing it again next year.

Susan Bowland, Executive Director, Headwaters Intervention Center, Inc.
