Letters: 2009 prom sure to be spectacular
The 2009 Park Rapids Area High School prom committee members, on behalf of the junior class, would like to thank Marjorie Snow for her comments and suggestions in her letter to the editor published in the Feb. 21 edition of the Enterprise. We have taken your words, and the kindness and support with which we believe they were intended, to heart. Our "Hollywood" prom theme could easily rely on flashy store-bought decorations, but we are focused on reusing, reconfiguring and repurposing as many supplies as we can. We have scoured the school's closets and storage areas to discover lights, props, decorations and raw materials already on hand that we will transform into a spectacular event on May 2. We will still have some expenses, of course, but the biggest fundraisers we have planned will bring in money from the students themselves.
We are excited to announce that this year's prom will be held at the Century School gymnasium. In this location we can accommodate all parents, family and community members with ample seating, air conditioned comfort and concessions during the Grand March. Thank you to principals Bruce Gravalin and Mitch Peterson for permission to use Century School. We invite the whole community to attend the Grand March at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 2.
To further express our appreciation for sharing your experience and wisdom, we would be honored, Ms. Snow, if you would accept our invitation to be our very special, honored guest at the Grand March. We will have a VIP seat reserved just for you. You have inspired our thriftiness and creativity and we promise to make you proud.
2009 prom committee, Lisa Coborn, prom advisor
