Letter: Women: Demand better treatment
In regard to the letter from Lorelei Kraft published in the March 30, 2013, edition of the paper, I would like to commend her for keeping us aware that the rights women have struggled to attain for so many years are being eroded. I was particularly interested to learn Hubbard County Commissioners are still refusing to accept money for family planning services 34 years after the money was made available. To ask women to go to the Wadena Public Health Services is unconscionable.
Women need to demand better treatment by the commissioners, and they need to be more aware of potential legislation which continues to restrict their lives. Young women, in particular, who have reaped the benefits of the work of their older sisters should start paying attention to what is happening. They stand to lose much of what has been gained.
