Letter: Thanks for supporting Freshwater Fest

Email

On May 7, the Hubbard Soil and Water Conservation District held the 19th annual Freshwater Festival at Camp Wilderness in Emmaville. There were over 300 sixth grade students from Hubbard County that attended this environmental education event. The students learned about the protection, preservation, and conservation of our water resources from presenters associated with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Department of Natural Resources, Minnesota Department of Health, Natural Resources Conservation Service, Headwater’s Science Center and Tom Gibson, environmental educator.

If not for the many volunteers and donations, we would not be able to hold this event. I would like to thank Lamb Weston/RDO Frozen, First National Bank of Walker, Nevis Volunteer Firepersons Relief Assoc., Citizens National Bank, Otto Hendrickson American Legion, MN Darkhouse & Angling, Tall Pine Toms, Emma, Stocking & Bottle Lake, Big Sand Lake Assoc., COLA, Mantrap Valley Conservation Club and their Auxiliary for their donations. I would also like to thank all of the volunteers for their help! You are truly appreciated!

Melissa Koebernick

Hubbard County SWCD, Freshwater Festival Coordinator
