Letter: Thanks for support of Sleigh Fest
The Hubbard Prairie Sleigh Festival Committee would like to thank all those who braved the wind and cold last Sunday to come to our annual festival. Thanks to the eleven teamster groups who provided a glimpse into the past with their horses, wagons, and sleighs.
Casey Davis took first place in the snow sculpture contest with his well-designed pair of horse heads. Bobbie Kleffman from Grand Rapids had the best teamster costume.
Thanks to the many volunteers who formed the snow blocks, plowed the Sleigh Grounds, sold buttons, directed traffic, provided historic displays, served chili, corn bread, and beverages, and who told the story of “Blue Hubbard Squash.” Thanks to Brad Livingston for announcing the parade, Scott Johnson for demonstrating chainsaw sculptures and County 20 for entertaining us with their music.
And finally, sincere thanks to the 24 businesses who provided funds and services to make the festival a success. See you all next year!
