Letter: Thanks for support of Kinship programs

Email

I wish to express profound gratitude to all who contributed to Kinship's amazing summer ~ from the mini-golf benefit hosted by Evergreen Gifts & Fun Park and the 2012 Kinship Raffle to the Dorset House Ice Cream Social and our Spaghetti Dinner with the arts and cultural showcase last weekend.

In the middle of these Kinship's Amazing Chase, a remarkable collaboration of civic, corporate, church and non-profit organizations, generated excitement and revenue for mentoring. Special thanks to Citizens National Bank and its employees and St Joseph's Area Health Services for their keystone sponsorship. Also to Park Rapids Rotary Club for sponsoring the 20th Anniversary picnic and to other cash sponsors, Brookside Resort, Minnesota Power and Trading Post.

Eleven teams of 4-6 people met fun and diverse challenges hosted and planned by Park Ace Hardware, J&B Foods, NorthStar Orthodontics, PR Fire Department, Hubbard County Law Enforcement, Coborn's, Delaney's Sports Center, Calvary Lutheran Youth, Lori Lea Lanes and Citizens National Bank.

Together the teams raised more than $3,400 from team members and local businesses. They were rewarded with prizes donated by Bears Den Golf Course, Character Challenge Course, Citizens National Bank, Eagle View Golf Course, Gabriele Zanutto's Hair Studio, Good Life Café', Lori Lea Lanes, Park Theater, Pizza Hut, Rocky's Pizza House and Style Zone Salon.

Inkind donations from Park Ace Hardware, Ben Franklin, KLN Family Brands and Nei Bottling reduced expenses. News coverage from the Enterprise and DeLaHunt Broadcasting helped insure the event's success.

The Amazing Chase co-chairs, Bill Simpson and Jason McCollum, join me in sending a big thank you to all who contributed in any way!

Congratulations to the Kinship Raffle winners - resort owner Jinx Stanwick won the Kinship clubhouse donated by Northwoods Bank, college student Nate Gebhard won the $200 T&M Express Gift Card, mentor Sue Sumner will treat her Kinship kid's family to 100 tickets at Evergreen Gifts & Fun Park and Betty Larson won the carved bear donated by Trading Post.

On behalf of all the kids who have brighter futures because they have mentors and reading buddies, thanks to all!

Jennifer Therkilsen

Kinship Executive Director
