Letter: St. Joseph’s Hospice has Light Up a Life ceremony

For anyone facing serious or life-limiting illness, hospice care provides comfort, love and respect to patients and their loved ones when they need it most.

St. Joseph’s Area Health Services Hospice care allows patients to receive comfort and care in their own home or residence where they are surrounded by loved ones.

We provide medical care, emotional and spiritual comfort support for loved ones and caregivers so patients, families and friends can embrace time together, enjoying life and living as fully as possible.

St. Joseph’s Hospice has been at the bedsides of our friends, families and neighbors for the last 26 years helping them cope with end-of-life issues with dignity. Our healing ministry calls on us to focus on the individual, not the illness, and bring honor to those making life’s final journey. What an honor it is to be a part of this healing mission!

As St. Joseph’s recognizes November as National Hospice and Palliative Care Month, we would like to invite all to join us at the Park Rapids downtown tree lighting and Light Up A Life ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29. Witness our community tree illuminated with love and shared in honor or memory of those dear to us.

Additionally, we appreciate the time many area churches have graciously set aside Sunday, Nov. 17 or 24 for sharing the hospice message with their congregations.

We would like to thank all of our friends who have supported St. Joseph’s Hospice program over the years. You have played a vital role in helping others and in bringing comfort, love and respect to the people of our community. You are a blessing in our lives. May the joy of the holiday season lift your heart.

Jill Grimes, St. Joseph’s Area Health Services Hospice Manager
